For those staying at Budapest for a few more days a trip along one of the much loved parts of the Hungarian capital might be of interest. Why not take a tour of the Danube Bend, a day trip with visits to Szentendre, Visegrád and Esztergom.
This stretch of the Danube through the hills takes a sudden turn towards the south to reveal spectacular views. Szentendre is a village-museum with narrow, winding alleyways with coloured houses. Esztergom is the historical and spiritual centre of Hungary. Just 50 kilometres away from Budapest, the city was the capital of Hungary for three centuries and today is still the seat of the Primate of the Hungarian Roman Catholic church with its imposing cathedral.
